Rackable Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:RACK), a leading provider of servers and
storage for large-scale data centers, today announced that Gorilla
Nation, the world’s largest online ad sales
rep firm, has selected Rackable Systems’
energy-efficient Eco-LogicalTM servers to meet
their rapidly-expanding computing needs. As a result of Rackable Systems’
customizable configurations, including energy-saving DC power options,
Gorilla Nation will be able to deploy additional eco-friendly, high
performance computing in their North American data centers.
"Gorilla Nation is laser-focused on continuing
the company’s explosive growth rates, and with
this growth comes the immediate need to scale our computing power and
other infrastructure,” said Alex Godelman,
Gorilla Nation’s Vice President of
Technology. "We turned to Rackable Systems,
whose reputation for developing powerful, green computing matched our
desire to build-out environmentally-conscious infrastructure without
sacrificing total cost of ownership, performance, scalability and
reliability targets.”
After evaluating multiple vendors and form factors, Gorilla Nation chose
Rackable Systems’ Scale Out servers, a blade
alternative that combines Rackable Systems’
patented back-to-back design for increased density and efficiency with
the level of serviceability and ease of management traditionally
associated with blades. Gorilla Nation’s
deployment will also include two Quad-core Intel Xeon L5420, 50 watt
processors per server and Rackable Systems’
unique rectified DC power capabilities. Gorilla Nation estimates that
this configuration will save 15 percent in power and cooling costs, and
will increase power density by up to 10 percent per rack in a small
footprint, leaving available data center space to continue to scale
along with their growing business.
"Rackable Systems sees the value of Gorilla
Nation's services in driving market penetration while building brand
awareness through ad units and rich media across targeted content
categories,” said Tony Carrozza, senior vice
president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Rackable Systems. "Gorilla
Nation also represents the core of Rackable Systems’
customer base – a fast growing Internet
company whose reputation relies on its ability to deliver quality
service and reliability. It is these rapidly-expanding organizations for
whom high-performance, energy efficient and easily scalable data center
solutions are a must. With our build-to-order model and extensive
product line, we are confident that we can continue to meet the specific
needs of Gorilla Nation, as well as every one of our unique customers.” About Rackable Systems
