LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) dedicated to serving the
U.S. government community, announced today that the Navy Marine Corps
Intranet (NMCI) has successfully deployed a custom-designed LGS desktop
application for 230,000 users.
The LGS application, called the LT Viewer, allows desktop users to
easily view and manage digital engineering data. The LT Viewer is now
used by more than 400,000 government users and is available for purchase
through the GSA Schedule as a site or enterprise-wide license.
LT Viewer is a simple desktop application that specializes in viewing
and managing raster files, a graphic image file that includes formats
such as JEDMICS C4, TIFF, and CALS. The LT Viewer allows viewing of
other file formats such as PDF, Word or Excel by launching third-party
applications. This gives government users the ability to easily toggle
between custom graphic programs and standard off-the-shelf software
programs. In addition, LT Viewer enables users to open several graphics
files at the same time and then manage them individually.
The LGS Custom Software & Video Solutions team worked closely with the
Navy to manage the timed software deployment and assisted with LT Viewer
distribution to users outside of the NMCI network. LGS will continue to
work with the Navy to support and manage the software.
The LGS Custom Software & Video Solutions team has designed, developed,
implemented, integrated and maintained custom software applications to
meet specific government needs for more than 20 years. Those
applications include an aperture card analysis and support system and a
personnel decision support system. The systems it has worked with range
for those serving a few users to hundreds of users. LGS has extensive
technical experience integrating proprietary government solutions and
off-the-shelf database solutions.
