LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) dedicated to serving the
U.S. government community, announced today the award of two delivery
orders, totaling $6.3 million, with the United States Department of the
Army to provide network integration and professional services for
communications infrastructure upgrades at U.S. Army installations. The
delivery orders involve communications network upgrades at Fort Sill in
Oklahoma and Fort Richardson in Alaska.
The awards are under the Infrastructure Modernization (IMOD) contract
and are in support of the Installation Information Infrastructure
Modernization Program (I3MP) managed by the Project Manager Network
Service Center (NSC) at Fort Monmouth, N.J. PM NSC upgrades and
modernizes core data backbone and telecommunications infrastructure at
Army installations worldwide.
"LGS is pleased to continue to deliver high-quality communications
upgrade solutions to the U.S. Army through our IMOD prime contract,”
said Ron Iverson, CEO, LGS. "In both of these projects, LGS will deliver
critical logistic support and project management while satisfying
sophisticated technical requirements to ensure that the quality,
performance, cost and schedule goals are met.”
At Fort Sill, LGS will provide all labor, supervision, management,
tools, materials, equipment, facilities, transportation and design to
upgrade the Fort’s data network.
At Fort Richardson, LGS will deliver a complete turn-key technical
refresh of the Fort Richardson Campus Area Network (CAN). This
implementation will position Fort Richardson for the future with 10GbE
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) capabilities and Voice over
Internet Protocol (VoIP) readiness.
LGS has delivered similar network solutions in the continental United
States, Europe and in the Asia Pacific (APAC) Theater at the Fort Hawaii
enclave and at Fort Wainwright in Alaska, delivering the first 10-Gig
MPLS architecture for the Army. As the first integrator implementing and
deploying MPLS for the U.S. Army, LGS has a unique track record for
delivering this state-of-the-art technology while minimizing risk to its
government customers.
LGS was one of ten prime contractors selected for the IMOD contract,
which has a total ceiling of $4 billion dollars. The IMOD contract
replaced the telecommunications switch modernization effort of the
Digital Switched Systems Modernization Program (DSSMP). IMOD aims to
provide integrated, secure communications systems for Army installations
and relies heavily on network transformation and migration to newer
technologies.
LGS and its predecessor organizations have a dedicated team of people
who have been working with the U.S. Army for more than 15 years.
