Leonard J. Elmore Joins Lee Enterprises Board of Directors

Leonard J. Elmore, a nationally known lawyer, business leader and sports
figure, has been elected to the board of directors of Lee Enterprises,
Incorporated (NYSE: LEE).
Elmore, 55, entered the legal profession as an assistant district
attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y., after a 10-year career as a professional
basketball player with the Indiana Pacers, Kansas City Kings, Milwaukee
Bucks, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks. He later founded Precept
Sports & Entertainment Inc., a management and marketing company that
specialized in representing professional athletes and consulting with
corporations in sport-related marketing.
His career includes serving as senior counsel with the international law
firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf in its New York City headquarters and as former
president of Test University, a leading provider of Internet-delivered
learning for pre-college students. He also has conducted a private
practice specializing in criminal and civil litigation, corporate
business development, sports and entertainment, and urban economic
development. He appears on ESPN television regularly as a basketball
analyst, and has served as a sports analyst also for ABC and for CBS
during its coverage of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
He is a graduate Harvard Law School and of the University of Maryland
College Park, where he was an All-American in 1974. He serves on the
board of trustees of the University of Maryland College Park and on the
Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics.
Others elected to terms on the Lee board of directors at the annual
meeting of stockholders today were Richard R. Cole, dean emeritus and
John Thomas Kerr Jr. Distinguished Professor at the School of Journalism
and Mass Communication, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and
a director since 2006; Nancy S. Donovan, founding partner of Circle
Financial Group, LLC, and founding partner of Oakmont Partners, LLC, and
a director since 2003; and Herbert W. Moloney III, president and chief
operating officer of Western Colorprint, Inc., and a director since 2001.
Other directors continuing in office on the 10-member board are William
E. Mayer, founding partner of Park Avenue Equity Partners, L.P., and a
director since 1998; Mark B. Vittert, a private investor and a director
since 1986; Andrew E. Newman, private investor and a director since
1991; Gordon D. Prichett, founder and partner of Cairnwood Cooperative,
and professor of mathematics, statistics and information systems at
Babson College, and a director since 1998; Gregory P. Schermer, Lee vice
president for interactive media, and a director since 1999; and Mary E.
Junck, Lee chairman, president and chief executive officer, and a
director since 1999. All except Schermer and Junck are independent
directors.
