LexisNexis, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow
solutions, and Recommind, the leader in search-powered information
risk management (IRM) software, today announced a strategic
collaboration to provide law firms with enhanced knowledge management
capabilities. The alliance will enable law firms to simultaneously find,
track and use legal data from inside the firm as well as from trusted
outside sources allowing for a more efficient and complete research
process and better service to clients.
The new offering integrates Lexis
Search Advantage® content and services accessed through lexis.com
with MindServer™
Search, Recommind’s enterprise search platform. It provides a
one-stop destination combining access to documents and information from
both a firm’s internal sources as well as trusted LexisNexis® content,
delivering search results that are more complete, efficient and
actionable.
Other benefits of this alliance include:
-
Enabling attorneys to quickly confirm that citations on legal
documents are still good law. This is done by associating citation
analysis from the LexisNexis® Shepard’s® Citations Service
directly to citations contained within documents returned by the
Recommind MindServer Search.
-
Delivering more precise and relevant search results through use of the
LexisNexis categorization service so that users can filter results
with MindServer Search’s SmartFilters™ along a broader range of
criteria for more effective research.
"This integration is a welcome addition to our knowledge management
resources,” said Ali Shahidi, director of Knowledge Management at
Bingham McCutchen LLP. "The ability to perform one search and tap into
the vast LexisNexis knowledge repository to source additional
information will help save us significant time and manpower. Adding this
resource to our MindServer Search implementation will provide on-point
search results for our attorneys, allowing them to better serve our
clients.”
"LexisNexis and Recommind have similar missions – to provide
professional service employees and knowledge workers with seamless,
powerful access to the resources they need, when they need them and in a
way that is a natural fit for their everyday workflow,” said Phil
Livingston, senior vice president of Practice Management at LexisNexis.
"That confluence and the complementary functionality of our products
will help our law firm clients work faster, smarter, more confident and
efficiently.”
"Both Recommind and LexisNexis have proven to have an innate
understanding of the challenges facing legal professionals and are
continuously developing services to help them work more efficiently,”
said Robert Tennant, chief executive officer of Recommind. "This
announcement is another example of that leadership. Lexis Search
Advantage and Shepard’s Citations bring value to firms on a daily
basis, and by making this available through MindServer Search firms now
have one unified location to quickly and effectively find the most
up-to-date information they are looking for. Adding the LexisNexis
integration to the MindServer Search arsenal is an important move for
the legal industry and will greatly benefit law firms worldwide.”
