Macrovision Solutions Corporation (NASDAQ:MVSN) today announced that
cable system operators in Central America, the United States Virgin
Islands (USVI) and Jamaica will deploy Macrovision’s
Passport® Interactive Program Guide (IPG)
products to their cable customers. Continental Programming Services
Limited, a subsidiary of Millicom; Innovative Cable TV St. Thomas –
St. John and Innovative Cable TV St. Croix; and Logic One Ltd. have all
signed multi-year agreements with Macrovision for its Passport IPG
solutions. With this new technology, the cable operators can now provide
customizable, feature-rich program guides that enhance the TV viewing
experience for their audiences.
Today, consumers have a host of options available such as digital video
recording (DVR) capabilities and on demand features that make the
television viewing experience truly interactive. Macrovision’s
Passport product line includes Passport Echo™
DVR and ShowRunner video on demand (VOD) applications that are designed
to help cable operators drive increased subscribership through
value-added services. These services enable viewers to control live
television with pause, rewind and fast-forward functionality; utilize
one-touch recording features; fine tune their recording options; and
scan VOD menus via an intuitive interface.
"Our customers’
satisfaction with their service offerings is extremely important to us,”
said Jennifer Matarangas-King, president of Innovative Cable TV, a cable
system operator in St. John, St. Croix and St. Thomas. "We’ve
selected Macrovision because its Passport solutions give us the
flexibility to make available a variety of feature-rich applications
that enrich the viewing experience for our customers.”
"We’re committed
to providing our subscribers with state-of-the-art technology for their
viewing enjoyment,” said Paula Francis,
general manager, Logic One of Jamaica. "Passport
products have a comprehensive set of features that facilitate ease of
use when navigating content and simplify program recording and
management.”
"Our recent Passport wins in Central America
and the Caribbean show the strength of our products and underscore
Macrovision’s commitment to deliver enabling
technology to our customers for a uniquely simple home entertainment
experience,” said Tom Carson, executive vice
president of worldwide sales and services at Macrovision. "The
momentum we’ve seen in the Latin America and
Caribbean markets is testament to our technology’s
value-add for cable system operators.”
