Macrovision Solutions Corporation (NASDAQ:MVSN), a digital entertainment
technology leader, announced today at The 2009 Cable Show the
availability of multi-room DVR capabilities for its industry-leading
Passport Echo 3.5 and i-Guide A28 interactive program guides (IPGs).
With planned availability on Motorola's standardized MoCA®-enabled
set-top boxes, Macrovision’s multi-room DVR solutions will allow
DVR-recorded content to be enjoyed throughout the home network.
Macrovision’s enhanced IPGs will make DVR recordings even more
convenient and accessible to viewers by allowing multiple household
members to enjoy their own personal DVR experience. As DVR use continues
to explode in popularity among TV viewers, cable operators can leverage
Macrovision’s IPGs to add significant value to this service offering and
remain at the cutting-edge of technology in today’s highly competitive
digital entertainment market.
"DVRs have continued to gain traction in U.S. households, topping 31
million at the end of 2008,” said Ian Olgeirson, senior analyst with SNL
Kagan. "Cable operators face an increasingly competitive environment and
need to add multi-room DVRs in order to more economically satisfy demand
for the time-shifting technology on additional screens in the household.”
"The game is rapidly changing in the world of digital home
entertainment. Consumers now want access to all the content available on
the TV that is right in front of them wherever they are in their home.
Macrovision is a leader in this transformation,” said Corey Ferengul,
executive vice president of product management and marketing at
Macrovision. "The addition of multi-room DVR features to our Passport
Echo and i-Guide IPG solutions underscores our commitment to delivering
the technology that enables our MSO customers to address the evolving
needs of TV viewers around the world.”
Macrovision’s multi-room DVR capability will be available on its
standard, easy-to-use i-Guide IPG and its highly advanced, feature-rich
