WHERE: Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown, 1646 Front Street, San
Diego, 619-239-6800
WHAT: One San Diego hotel is officially commemorating its debut in
downtown San Diego by sharing their celebration with the
community. The new Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown will
delight the "sweet tooths" of people across downtown San
Diego today with a day-long chocolate chip cookie
celebration.
The day's festivities begin with the unveiling of a 60-foot
by 100-foot chocolate chip cookie from the north side of the
hotel that will welcome commuters and visitors to downtown
San Diego. The cookie can be seen hundreds of feet away by
commuters on Interstate 5, as well as planes that make their
final approach to Lindbergh Field.
During the morning and afternoon rush hours, chefs at the
Doubletree are quickly preparing hundreds of the brand's
legendary fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies they give to
every guest at check-in, to be given away complimentary to
commuters and passers-by in the area at the beginning and end
of the day along Front Street -- one of the main commuter
routes into and out of downtown San Diego. Drawings for
downtown Doubletree getaways and other special prizes will be
given away along with cookies.
San Diego-based American Property Management Corporation,
operators of the new Doubletree Hotel San Diego Downtown,
wanted to celebrate in a special way the completion of their
$11 million reinvestment in the San Diego tourism industry.
The hotelwide renovation of this former Radisson has
transformed this new 333-room Doubletree hotel into one of
the freshest contemporary hotels in the downtown district.
WHO: Doubletree Cookie Commando Teams will be scouring the streets
of downtown San Diego all day distributing chocolate chip
cookies to people in the community.
