NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT), an industry leader in advanced
network and application performance management, today announced that it
will host Engage ’08, NetScout’s
annual user conference, which includes sponsorship from HP and Riverbed
Technology. Engage ’08 is taking place October
6-9, 2008 in San Diego, California.
Sessions during the event will showcase the benefits of HP and Riverbed®
technologies working in coordination with the nGenius®
Performance Management solution. By taking part in the sessions,
attendees can learn how to immediately extend a NetScout deployment by
using nGenius in coordination with HP Network Node Manager and HP
Business Availability Center, both HP Business Service Management
offerings, or with Riverbed Steelhead® WDS.
"At Engage ’08, our
customers will have an important opportunity to see for themselves how
NetScout’s solutions can work together with
other key network technology,” said Bruce
Sweet, vice president of business development, NetScout. "Using
nGenius in coordination with HP and Riverbed adds tremendous value to
all the technologies involved and helps take some of the complexity out
of managing the modern IP network.”
In late 2007, NetScout announced it was working with HP to develop a
tight integration between its technologies and HP
Network Node Manager i-series. In addition, NetScout has been
working closely with HP to deliver integration between nGenuis and the
HP Business Availability Center. Both integrations are available today
and the solutions being demonstrated at Engage ’08
showcase the power of advanced, application-aware performance alarming,
analysis, and troubleshooting when brought to bear at the front line of
IT support for both enterprise and service provider networks. The
solutions also enable early warning of application performance
degradations and an integrated workflow for problem detection and root
cause analysis, providing an edge to businesses in assuring quality
delivery of applications and services on the network.
In June 2008, NetScout and Riverbed entered an agreement whereby
NetScout would extend nGenius to support the protocol used among Riverbed’s
Steelhead appliances. At Engage ’08, NetScout
customers will be able to see firsthand the result of this important
technology integration that enables enterprises to collect the same
detailed information about the impact and performance of Steelhead
appliances as they do other key pieces of IT infrastructure. The
combination of NetScout’s nGenius Performance
Management system and Riverbed Steelhead appliances delivers the tools
network operations teams require to establish both pre- and
post-acceleration baseline network and application performance. Armed
with this data, organizations can best evaluate the full benefits that
Riverbed WDS solutions deliver. As important, a better understanding of
how specific applications behave when accelerated can be used to
identify the WAN segments that will most benefit from acceleration using
Riverbed Steelhead appliances.
"Global business strategies require
consistent network performance and through our relationship with
NetScout, our joint customers are provided powerful tools to achieve
crucial visibility into the performance of their applications over the
WAN,” said Alan Saldich, vice president of
product marketing and alliances at Riverbed. "At
Engage ’08, we’re
showing our joint enterprise customers how end-to-end network management
will result in greater capacity to analyze, manage, optimize and
accelerate business applications over the WAN.”
