PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in propagation and optimization
solutions for the wireless industry, announced today that it had
requested the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to re-examine and reject
all of the claims in patent 7,301,920 (Sanders, et al.). PCTEL has
submitted extensive documentation demonstrating that the inventor misled
the patent examiner by failing to disclose certain relevant PCTEL
patents as well as other earlier patents of the inventor. PCTEL has
argued that all of the ‘920 claims should be
rejected on the grounds that those claims are based upon earlier,
patented work.
In August, 2008 the USPTO rejected all 13 claims of another interference
detection patent 6,754,487 issued to the same inventor.
"Since 2001, PCTEL has been vigilant and
aggressive in protecting its intellectual property,”
said Marty Singer, PCTEL’s Chairman and CEO. "We
will pursue any company that develops and sells a product that infringes
our core interference detection technology on which our Clarify®
products are based. The rejection of these patent claims will make that
clear,” added Singer.
