Commerce Energy Group, Inc. (Amex:EGR) today announced that Chief
Executive Officer Steven S. Boss has been named to the Advisory Board of
the University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering.
"I’m delighted and
honored to join the Board of my alma mater,”
said Boss. "My time as a student in the
engineering school has had a profound and positive effect on my daily
life – both business and personal. I value the
opportunity to help today’s students benefit
from their time at UT.”
Boss is an alumnus of UT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace
Engineering. He has led Commerce Energy for the past two years. Prior to
joining Commerce Energy, Boss practiced law, specializing in the
representation of energy companies and commercial energy users. He also
has significant operating experience in the retail energy industry. Most
recently, he served as president of Energy Buyers Network LLC, an energy
consulting firm that provided regulatory representation and structured
direct-access energy transactions for commercial energy users.
Before that, Boss led Sierra Pacific Energy Company and Nevada Power
Services and served as president and CEO of Sunrise Energy Services Inc.
During Boss’ tenure, Sunrise Energy became one
of the largest, independent, natural gas marketing companies in the U.S.
commercial market sector. Sunrise was publicly traded and listed on the
Amex and London stock exchanges.
Boss has also served in various legal and senior-management positions in
a number of energy companies, and is a sought-after speaker on energy
policy and energy restructuring.
In addition to his engineering degree, he earned a Juris Doctorate from
the University of Southern California and has been a member of the
California State Bar since 1974.
