Sun Microsystems zu myNews hinzufügen Was ist das?

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:JAVA), today announced details around its next CommunityOne conference, slated for June 1-3, 2009, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Growing in popularity since its launch in San Francisco in 2007, this is the third annual developer conference. There is no charge to attend CommunityOne on Monday, June 1, with only a nominal fee to attend the deep technology sessions on June 2 and 3. All CommunityOne attendees will receive free access to the JavaOne(SM) conference general sessions and Pavilion on Tuesday 2 June through Thursday 4 June 2009. Click here for full program details and to register today.

"Sun has long supported the innovation and choice of the open source community,” said Julian Edwards, CommunityOne Conference manager, Sun Microsystems. "We're looking forward to hosting thousands of developers and students for a couple of days jam-packed with education, technology and community exchange.”

The conference's opening day keynote will be delivered by John Fowler, executive vice president of Systems, and Dave Douglas, senior vice president of Cloud Computing and Chief Sustainability Officer, Sun Microsystems. Expert-led technology sessions are open to attendees throughout the day, with the day closing with an evening reception from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Building on its commitment to students, Sun is also providing free full conference passes for students to participate in the complete CommunityOne and JavaOne experience. Students will have full access to all general sessions, technology sessions, birds of feathers, and specially developed Java University classes, as well as the opportunity to network with leading-edge technologists from around the world.

Conference Enhancements for CommunityOne 2009

  • CloudCamp 2009, is an unconference style event where early adopters of Cloud Computing technologies can gather to exchange experiences and ideas.
  • Technology Deep Dives: One- or two-day technology tutorials will be available June 2 – 3. The focus will include web development, system administration, database development and more.
  • CommunityOne will also offer hands-on technology labs and an "Open Space” for open source groups to hold public discussions. The CommunityOne hands-on demo area is joining the JavaOne pavilion. Evaluate technologies and solutions from hundreds of leading technology companies during this developer-focused week (June 1 – 4).

Session details are located in the CommunityOne catalog. The 2009 CommunityOne program will encompass dozens of in-depth technical sessions, including the following:

  • Next-generation platforms: development and deployment in the cloud and virtualization
  • Social and collaborative platforms: social networks and Web 2.0 trends
  • RIAs and scripting: rich Internet applications, scripting, and tools
  • Web platforms: dynamic languages, databases, and Web and application servers
  • FOSS: open-source projects, business models, and trends
  • Operating systems and platforms: performance and native development. Includes two virtual tracks: developing on OpenSolaris(TM) and managing OpenSolaris
  • Mobile development: mobile platforms, devices, tools and application development

CommunityOne is a three-day event that will bring together developers, students and technologists to focus on open source innovation and implementation. The conference's programs on June 1 are the result of a public call for papers and will offer more than 80 sessions led by contributors of dozens of open source and community projects, including Ajax, MySQL(TM), GlassFish(TM), JavaFX(TM), OpenOffice.org(TM), OpenSolaris, NetBeans(TM), Groovy, PHP, Apache, Android, Jython and Django.
