Mobile phone subscribers at Telstra, Australia’s leading
telecommunications and information services company, now can get all
their messages — voicemail, picture messaging, text messaging, email and
multimedia communications — in one secure, integrated mailbox accessible
from both mobile handset and desktop computer.
By launching Comverse HUB Converged Messaging (locally branded
MyConnect™), Telstra becomes the first operator on the continent to
offer a converged Web-based messaging inbox containing all mobile,
landline and email messages. Users can easily view, manage, compose and
send the many kinds of messages from this one location, and an archive
provides abundant room to store and organize messages.
During the recent Comverse EXPO virtual event, Telstra’s MyConnect
received one of Comverse’s Fourth Annual Innovation Awards to recognize
its successful rollout in the marketplace. (To view a video about
Telstra’s MyConnect, please visit the Comverse
EXPO web site.)
"Removing the barriers that artificially separated the messages from the
different services frees our users to handle their messaging in the most
efficient way from any convenient device,” said Michael Rocca, Telstra
Networks and Services GMD.
Telstra users now can, for example, check and send email on their mobile
phones while on the move and can handle SMS, MMS and voicemail messages
while sitting at a PC at home or at the office.
"Our messaging offering matches the way people live and enables them to
use their time more efficiently,” Rocca said.
In addition to boosting user satisfaction and loyalty, Converged
Messaging can increase usage and revenue, enhance the operator’s Web
presence and branding strength, and increase traffic on the operator’s
portal, which can lead to additional revenue opportunities by providing
a valuable platform for marketing and promoting operator services.
"In the current competitive environment, it is vital for network
operators to leverage existing capabilities to create new revenue
streams and deliver innovative user experiences,” said Urban Gillstrom,
Group President of Global Sales at Comverse, the world's leading
supplier of software and systems enabling value-added messaging and
content services, converged billing and active customer management, and
IP communications.
"Comverse solutions like Converged Messaging provide the operator with a
competitive advantage and clear differentiation,” Gillstrom said,
"taking full advantage of today’s opportunities while enabling an
evolutionary path towards IMS/IP environments.”
Converged Messaging is part of the Comverse HUB Value-Added Services,
which spans voice, messaging, mobile Internet and mobile advertising.
Comverse HUB is a synergistic framework that enables service providers
to maximize their business performance and augment their position in the
market.
