Teradyne Unveils ETS-88 at SEMICON China

Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER) will introduce the ETS-88™ test system from its Eagle Test Business Unit at SEMICON China, March 17-19 in Shanghai. Designed for high-volume commodity and precision device testing, the ETS-88 can simultaneously run multiple unrelated test applications using multiple handlers and/or probers. The system utilizes the same pattern-based floating resources and Eagle Vision^TM software that customers expect from an Eagle platform.

This new breed of high-performance multisite production test equipment focuses on analog and mixed-signal devices such as: LDOs, PWMs, Battery Chargers, Hot Swap Controllers, Gate Drivers, Power Switches, OPAMPs, and Audio Amps including Class D, Video Amps, etc. The system achieves high- parallel test efficiency through the use of four independent testers in one small footprint.

The ETS-88 also supports true Index Parallel testing. Index Parallel has long been used for discrete device testing, but is now made practical for IC testing through the unique architecture of the ETS-88. Using Index Parallel techniques, the ETS-88’s multi-tester architecture maximizes the throughput performance of turret handlers, setting a new benchmark in test cell performance.

The system uses the Eagle Vision Software Suite which offers intuitive automated coding tools, integrated plotting screens and a robust debug environment. The ETS-88 also utilizes the same 133MHz digital vector rate along with the pattern-based floating resources from the existing line of Eagle testers. Eagle’s floating resources improve accuracy and test speed, which is essential for supporting the demands of today’s manufacturing environments.
