Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) announced that Atheros
Communications has specified the UltraFLEX-HD™
test system with the UltraPin800
128 digital channel card and the UltraWave™
12G wireless test instrument at multiple Outsourced Semiconductor
Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities. After a competitive evaluation
process, Atheros selected Teradyne based on lower capital costs,
significant throughput advantages and demonstrated wireless test
leadership. The test systems will be deployed to test 802.11n products
at Atheros OSAT locations in California, Shanghai and Taiwan.
Atheros, a global leader in innovative technologies for wireless and
wired communications, will leverage the additional test capacity for
semiconductors used in personal computers, handheld devices and Personal
Navigation Devices (PNDs).
"Teradyne has been a key ATE supplier for the past 10 years,” said Hing
Chu, Atheros vice president of operations. "Teradyne continues to
deliver test platforms and new instrumentation that stand up to the
challenging test requirements of our current and future designs. Our
selection of the UltraFLEX-HD with UltraWave 12G and UltraPin800 meets
our most extensive range of rigorous test requirements while lowering
our cost of test.”
The UltraPin800 digital instrument extends the parallel test capability
of the UltraFLEX family of test systems by doubling the number of
channels per instrument. The UltraPin800 features 800 Mbps data rate,
256 M Vector Memory, and digital source and capture capability, which
reduces test program development time and increases multisite throughput
for a wide range of digital and mixed signal devices. For more

Available on the UltraFLEX test platform, the UltraWave 12G offers
wireless customers 12 GHz source and measurement performance. It offers
the widest range of test and measurement capability to cover complex
microwave test requirements for RFIC and RF SOC devices, including
wireless LAN, Bluetooth® technology, 3G cellular, and new emerging
standards like 4G cellular and Ultra Wideband. For more information on
