UnboundID™ Launches New Directory Server to Support Proliferation of Distributed Business, Consumer and Mobile Application Architectures

Alcatel-Lucent (Spons ADRs) zu myNews hinzufügen Was ist das?

UnboundID Corp., a developer of identity management software for Internet-driven, consumer-facing architectures, today announced the availability of their flagship product the UnboundID Directory Server. This new class of LDAP v3-compliant directory services software is designed to support the continued adoption and scale of distributed business and consumer applications, including the popular texting and smart phone applications that people use everyday to work and interact. In addition, UnboundID announced that Alcatel-Lucent is the exclusive reseller of its new offering to the global telecommunications market, and is OEMing the UnboundID platform as part of its Subscriber Data Management portfolio under the name of the Alcatel-Lucent 8661 Directory Server.

"As businesses and people rely more and more on telco networks for work and play, operators need to ensure they provide the highest quality-of-service or subscribers will look elsewhere,” said Jeff Cortley, President of Alcatel-Lucent’s Subscriber Data Management Business. "We were looking for a directory services partner and ran the UnboundID Directory Server through rigorous testing, where it far outperformed the other products we were considering. Helping our service provider customers meet the new service-level demands of the distributed and mobile computing age requires game changing technology that is built for managing large subscriber bases. We feel UnboundID provides that next-generation Directory Server.”

First-generation directory services technology was designed to address the internal needs of a closed enterprise. As enterprises have opened up to the Web and allowed people to access applications from multiple devices, it has placed tremendous pressure on these traditional architectures. The UnboundID Directory Server helps organizations meet these new challenges head-on with a unique design that combines the best of both the directory server and the database into a single identity management product. The result is the ability to address billions of entries and transactions simultaneously with the following key benefits:

  • Enhanced Performance – offers 3-5X increase in performance versus current market competitors and superior response time with less than a millisecond for read/write operations through advanced state-of-the-art information storage techniques.
  • High Availability – with no single point of failure, UnboundID Directory Server provides high availability and lightning fast import, startup, backup and recovery as well as improved data redundancy.
  • Proven Efficiencies – reduces a company’s directory server equipment and storage footprint by up to 80 percent, extending equipment lifetime and value while lowering costs and capital expenditures.

"As more and more people access personal and work applications through different devices such as iPhones, computers, PDAs and televisions, traditional directory services architectures are reaching the breaking point,” said Don Bowen, co-founder and VP of Marketing at UnboundID. "This new computing era demands a different approach that can handle the unprecedented scale, availability and complexity. Our Directory Services 2.0 platform is designed from the ground up for that very reason, and we are pleased to be partnering with Alcatel-Lucent to bring it to market more quickly.”
