SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) --
Urban Outfitters Inc. reported late Monday its fiscal third-quarter profit rose to $59.5 million, or 40 cents a share, from $50.7 million, or 33 cents, a year ago. Revenue for the three months ended Oct. 31 rose to $692.9 million from $609.9 million. Overall net sales rose 14% though same-store sales fell 1%. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had predicted the Philadelphia-based retailer would earn 41 cents a share on $693.1 million in sales.
