Vignette (NASDAQ: VIGN), a
worldwide leader in Web experience management and delivery, today
announced new video products that help organizations deliver an
immersive, video-centric Web experience. Vignette Video Services and the
latest release of Vignette’s Rich Media
Services allow organizations to streamline video management and make it
a central part of their overall Web strategy. The new services are
designed to increase viewer time spent on site, improve customer
engagement and drive revenues using video as a significant source of
site content.
Vignette Rich Media Services now includes a video module that integrates
with Vignette
Content Management, enabling organizations to manage the workflow
and publishing of video and all other Web content from one interface.
Vignette Video Services is a hosted video management solution that
provides capabilities to upload, transcode and manage and deliver video.
Both products leverage the same core video processing platform and
include a media player that offers the ability to tag and share any
segment of a video. The Flash-based player can be embedded on any site.
Vignette is also working on future capabilities to provide Web
publishers with a "heat map”
that identifies the most watched parts of a video.
"Vignette Video Services delivers an easy to
use interface that expands our content offerings and exposes our print
and online brands to new consumers,” said Tim
Bradbury, president of American City Business Journals (ACBJ) New Media,
the largest publisher of metropolitan business newspapers in the U.S. "We
can now link relevant news items, company profiles and industry topics
to any bizjournals.com video. Having the opportunity for our traditional
news content to be automatically coupled with our growing array of video
content provides an engaging experience for our users.”
These new products provide Vignette with a number of significant market
differentiators including unique insight and analysis into user viewing
patterns and video segment tagging and sharing. Video is now integrated
into Vignette Content Management, allowing video assets to use the same
authorization and security model, share advanced metadata and
participate in the same workflow and publishing model as other Web
content. Additionally the videos can be delivered to any Web site via
Vignette’s embedded Flash player, through a
content delivery network or directly from Vignette Video servers.
According to a Yankee Group study, viewers watched about 2.5 hours of
online video per month in 2007, a 56 percent increase from 2006. "Organizations
regardless of industry are recognizing the potential of online video to
reach new audiences and drive business,” said
Sharon Ballard, senior analyst at Yankee Group. "By
integrating video with their traditional content management solution,
Vignette is giving organizations the unique ability to handle all their
content from one interface, making the site easier to maintain and
update. This can have a trickle-down effect resulting in better
advertising placements, increased user engagement and lower IT costs.” "Video is no longer a nice to have component
to a Web site but a must have for organizations that want to increase
traffic and connect with their constituents through engaging content,”
said Dave Dutch, senior vice president of products and marketing at
Vignette. "Vignette’s
video products deliver these capabilities on top of a scalable and
reliable enterprise-class Web experience platform.” About Vignette
