Wavion Partners with Ural’s Carrier, Uralsvyazinform, to Deliver Wireless Broadband Access to Ekaterinburg and other Cities in the Region

Elron Electronic Industries zu myNews hinzufügen Was ist das?

Wavion™, a company transforming the Metro and Rural Wi-Fi market with a new category of Wi-Fi Base Station announced today a project with Uralsvyazinform, the largest provider of telecommunications services in the Urals region, Russia, to deploy broadband wireless access to the towns and cities of Urals region. Wavion will be delivering this project with ARD Satcom, local integrator in this project.

The project, already in deployment, will provide Wi-Fi coverage to both business and residential customers, starting with the city-wide coverage of Ekaterinburg, Ural’s capital city. The large cities and smaller towns of the region will follow as part of this multi year program. Wavion will provide an end-to-end wireless broadband access solution based on Wi-Fi, WBS-2400 base stations.

Wavion’s powerful WBS-2400 spatially adaptive beamforming base stations provide extended range and higher throughput connectivity to standards-based Wi-Fi clients. Wavion’s Wi-Fi solution requires one third of the units than other competing Access Points (APs) to cover the same area, with superior indoor penetration and fewer dead spots. This superior Wi-Fi performance makes Wavion an ideal infrastructure solution for wide-area metro coverage.

"USI is committed to providing our customers with the telecommunications and information services of the 21st century. Providing high quality broadband access is a key element of this commitment” said Sergey Sozonov, Deputy Technical Director at Uralsvyazinform. A Wireless solution was a natural choice for us due to the pending demand for broadband in large areas that we need to cover and a quick time to market service needs. Wavion’s base stations allow us to cover these areas with significantly less units then the competition, thus offering us significant saving on the total cost of ownership (TCO) and a quicker time to market. Moreover Wavion’s solution has met our needs of a carrier grade Outdoor Wi-Fi solution in terms of its environmental endurance and network management capabilities.”

"Wavion is proud to partner with a first tier carrier like USI on a large scale, multi-year project,” said Tal Meirzon, Wavion's CEO. "Wavion Wi-Fi end-to-end solution, based on WBS-2400 base stations, takes Wi-Fi to its next level and provides a carrier-grade fully managed system with superior coverage and capacity for Metro applications. This makes our Wi-Fi broadband solution ideal for providing high quality and cost effective business and residential connectivity in emerging markets.”
