Commerce Energy Celebrates a Year of Being Green
Sara Lee zu myNews hinzufügen Was ist das?
A year ago, Commerce Energy (AMEX:EGR) started making electricity
generated by wind, which is now Green-e certified, available to its
customers.
Commerce Energy, a leading U.S. energy marketing company, launched Clear
Choice clean energy on January 23, 2007, with clearly defined 100% and
50% wind-generated electricity available to customers in Texas and
Maryland. During the year, customers in Pennsylvania were also offered
wind-generated electricity.
Commerce Energy Chief Executive Officer Steven S. Boss said, "Our
customers have told us how important it is to contribute to the effort
to clean up the environment for their families, now and in the future.
With Clear Choice, they can do that for just pennies more a day. We
continue to work with our suppliers to help remove cost as a barrier to
buying clean energy.”
A flower shop owner in Alice, Texas, said, "Clear
Choice goes hand-in-hand with my business. Green plants; clean air.”
An Ellicott City, Maryland, resident said, "We
didn’t have 100% wind-generated electricity as
an option before. We’re happy to support
sustainable generation.” A Coppell, Texas,
consumer said, "Everybody has to do a little
bit to clean up the air. Using wind-generated electricity is our way.”
Commerce Energy has "greened-up”
its own offices by purchasing green tags for both the Costa Mesa,
California, and Dallas, Texas, offices. The company also sponsored an
energy-education program called Switch It! for children in grades 1 –
4 in Dallas and Fort Worth, including an energy-saving billboard design
contest. The winner of the billboard design contest can currently be
seen on billboards in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Commerce Energy voluntarily complies with the highest clean-energy
standards in Texas, Maryland and Pennsylvania where Clear Choice is
certified by Green-e. Green-e is the nation’s
leading independent certification and verification program. It conducts
audits to ensure that a customer’s purchase
of clean energy is actually delivered to the grid.
"Affordable, clean energy is just one of the
benefits of a deregulated energy market,”
said Boss. "Much like the telecommunications
industry, a deregulated marketplace will result in more options at
prices consumers can afford.” About Commerce Energy
