Commerce Energy Names Shaun McCabe Vice President, Legal & Regulatory Affairs

Commerce Energy Group, Inc. (Amex:EGR), a leading U.S. electricity and natural gas marketing company, today named Shaun McCabe as vice president, legal and regulatory affairs for its major operating subsidiary, Commerce Energy, Inc. McCabe, who has 20 years of experience in a variety of regulatory, legal and corporate law areas, will assume several of the responsibilities previously handled by Erik Lopez, who has left the company. McCabe will be based in the company’s Dallas, Texas office. "Shaun has significant knowledge and expertise in the energy-services market,” said Steven S. Boss, chief executive officer. "His extensive knowledge of energy markets, energy regulations and the legislative process will add a strong level of expertise to Commerce Energy. In addition, he has a long-standing interest in the benefits consumers realize from having ‘choice’ in selecting their energy provider.” McCabe played an important role in the early development of the Texas Business for Clean Air coalition. Most recently, McCabe served as general counsel for Capto Group, LLC, leading complex international transactions, and general counsel of Ardago Partners, LLC, guiding patent supply-chain traceability solutions. He has also provided strategic analysis on energy-related issues for Commerce Energy during the Texas State Legislative session. Prior to that, among other roles, McCabe served as general counsel to a University of Chicago-led consortium for the Department of Energy Idaho National Laboratory management and operations team, as president of Waste Control Specialists, LLC and as a member of a Dallas law firm, Patterson, Lamberty & Robinson PC. McCabe served in the U.S. Navy and is a graduate of the Nuclear Power Program, Submarine Service. He holds a Bachelor of Science Business Administration from the University of Texas and a Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of the Texas State Bar.
