Cooper Industries was an exhibitor at the 2009 WindPower Conference &
Exhibition May 4-7 in Chicago, IL. As a leader in the electrical
industry, Cooper is committed to improving the reliability and
productivity of the electric grid, and utilizes its extensive experience
and globally-recognized brands to deliver a broad product offering to
the wind power industry, and contribute towards the advancement of
renewable energy technologies.
The Cooper exhibit featured products spanning from high-speed fuses that
protect power conversion equipment, to the wireless transmitters that
monitor the productivity of a wind turbine, to medium- and high-voltage
electrical distribution equipment.
Three divisions of Cooper attended the show, and showcased several
unique products and solutions available for use on wind farms globally:
Cooper Bussmann, leader in downtime reduction, workplace safety
and Code compliance, highlighted its circuit protection solutions for
wind power technologies. These products offer protection of power
conversion equipment such as rectifiers, inverters, drives and UPS
systems. In addition, Cooper Bussmann low voltage fuses, fuse blocks and
holders, power distribution blocks, disconnects and wire connection
products were on display. These innovative technologies offer protection
of the low voltage power distribution equipment associated with wind
turbines, including HVAC systems and control panels.
Cooper Crouse-Hinds, leader in global explosionproof protection,
featured its industrial wireless solutions offering. As monitoring
turbine status can be quite costly due to long distances between
communication points, Cooper Crouse-Hinds offers a comprehensive system
of transmitters, receivers, transceivers and interface gateways that
provide both one-and two-way wireless monitoring capabilities for
wind energy farms. The product line is complemented by a lengthy list of
accessories, including high-powered antennas for long-distance
communications.
Cooper Power Systems, a global manufacturer of medium- and
high-voltage electrical equipment, components and systems, showcased its
broad product offerings in wind farm collector system optimization,
enhanced substation-to-utility interconnectivity and reliability
performance. The company also displayed its unique capabilities
regarding transformer design and interconnection. Additionally, the
Cooper Power Systems exhibit included underground cabling system design
software and a newly developed software module, designed for wind farm
owners and engineers to perform transient stability analysis and
modeling.
Cooper Industries is committed to the continued development of the
renewable energy industry, and provides innovative products and
solutions to the advancement of wind power technologies. For more
