Hypertec Expands into Europe with 5C and Together AI; a Strategic AI Infrastructure Alliance driving up to $5 billion in Private Investments
First Joint AI Factory Deployment Outside North America to Deliver up to 2 GW of Data Center Capacity and up to 100,000 GPUs
PARIS, June 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hypertec, a Canadian global leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, announces today its planned expansion into Europe through a strategic alliance with 5C Group, a major global builder of next-generation AI data centers, and Together AI, a leading AI cloud platform powering some of the leading AI-native companies and enterprise innovation.
This expansion marks their first joint AI deployment in Europe, marking a significant milestone in their global strategy to build scalable, high-performance AI cloud infrastructure. Initial rollouts will begin in late 2025, with large-scale buildouts planned through 2028, aiming to support Europe's surging demand for sovereign, regulation-ready AI infrastructure. These deployments will power frontier model training, inference workloads, and open-source generative AI innovation.
This synergistic relationship between the three companies provides full vertical integration combining innovative hardware technology solutions, data center construction and operations, cloud services and leading-edge research-driven artificial intelligence infrastructure and systems.
This strategic venture will deliver high-density compute, infrastructure and AI-native cloud services designed for frontier model training and large-scale generative AI inference deployments near end users throughout Europe. This initiative will unlock up to 2 gigawatts (GW) of AI-dedicated data center and compute capacity, support the deployment of nearly 100,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and future generation GPUs, and drive more than $5 billion in investments, directly addressing Europe's growing compute gap. France, the UK, Italy, and Portugal are priority markets being actively evaluated for first deployments.
As part of this project, Hypertec is exploring targeted acquisitions and partnering with local and global players to ensure world-class execution tailored to European regulatory, sustainability, and digital sovereignty needs.
"Hypertec's announcement in Europe embodies Canada's ambition to make innovation and artificial intelligence in particular a true driver of sovereignty, prosperity, and global collaboration. Supporting our tech companies as they grow and expand internationally means investing in sustainable solutions, Canadian competitiveness, and high-quality jobs for our talent." — The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, Government of Canada.
"Europe is at a pivotal moment in taking its place in the future of AI," said Simon Ahdoot, CEO of Hypertec. "Together with our strategic partners 5C and Together AI, we are investing in building one of the most sustainable and high-performance AI infrastructure platforms on the continent. This effort reflects our commitment to global AI leadership and our confidence in Europe's talent and innovation ecosystem."
By leveraging Hypertec's expertise in delivering the most sustainable AI servers and rapidly building high-performance data centers combined with 5C's proven large-scale infrastructure capabilities and Together AI's powerful cloud platform and open-source model ecosystem, this partnership will provide a comprehensive, end-to-end AI stack for enterprises, research institutions, and AI-native companies across Europe.
"Over the past 18 months, 5C has built and retrofitted multiple North American data centers as well as deployed several large-scale, high-performance AI clusters to meet the demands of the world's leading AI users," said Jonathan Ahdoot, CEO of 5C Group. "From engineering data centers and compute infrastructure to deploying and operating GPU clusters with advanced cooling technologies, we deliver unmatched performance, reliability, and speed. With Together AI and Hypertec, we are bringing this capability to Europe — tailored for local needs, digital sovereignty, and world-class sustainability."
"Europe's moment to have independence and leadership in AI requires platforms that enables its ambition," said Vipul Ved Prakash, CEO of Together AI. "By bringing our high-performance AI Cloud and the powerful developer platform for model inference and fine-tuning to Europe, we're enabling enterprises and researchers to harness open-source and custom frontier models with full control over performance, compliance, and cost. In partnership with 5C and Hypertec, we're building a sovereign, sustainable AI cloud purpose-built for the EU market."
The European AI Factory rollout will enable inference and fine-tuning of more than 200 open-source, optimized models, including DeepSeek and Llama LLMs, incorporating the latest advancements in AI efficiency and scalability. The result: faster deployment timelines, synchronized infrastructure rollouts, and AI cloud offerings that are both high-performance and regulation-ready—delivering significant cost and time savings for clients.
This development also complements Quebec and Canada's AI strategies, supporting Canadian engineering innovation and workforce development. Similar to its North American roadmap, 5C's European buildout includes 2 GW of new capacity through 2029, with 600MW coming online in 2025 and 2026.
