Six Months Under Trump: Just 31% Feel Financially Better, 70% Fear Housing Crash
Six months into his second term, 67% of Americans believe Trump's tariffs will hurt the economy, and nearly half (47%) fear his immigration policies will harm both the economy and housing market.
ST. LOUIS, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Only 38% of Americans believe the U.S. economy is headed in the right direction, while just 31% feel better off financially than they did six months ago, according to a new report from Clever Offers, a platform owned by Clever Real Estate that allows home sellers on tight timelines to explore their selling options.
More than half of Americans (54%) oppose the Trump administration's economic policies overall, and nearly half (49%) think people are underreacting to how the policies will impact their finances.
Since January, 41% of Americans have less trust in the administration's ability to manage the economy compared to 20% who have more trust.
Over half of Americans (55%) oppose the Big Beautiful Bill, and 85% are worried about potential changes to Medicaid or Medicare benefits.
Nearly half of Americans (45%) say affording basic necessities has become more difficult in the past six months, and 35% report their confidence in retiring comfortably has dropped. Meanwhile, 61% plan to cut non-essential spending in the next six months.
Nearly all Americans (93%) are worried about inflation, which 71% expect to worsen within the year. The same share (93%) reported concern over rising insurance costs for their home, car, and health care.
A staggering 70% of Americans fear a housing market crash, as 54% disapprove of the Trump administration's handling of the housing market.
Only 36% believe the administration is doing enough to support homeowners, and nearly one-third (30%) worry they won't be able to afford housing payments within the next six months.
Even more, 88% are concerned about rising property taxes — which 61% anticipate worsening in the coming months — and 39% fear their home will lose value.
60% of Americans believe the Trump administration has impacted the current economic climate more than any other factor — more than those who say the Biden administration (15%), Congress (3%), and the Federal Reserve (2%) combined.
