Michael A. Reid, a seasoned educator and administrator, has dedicated over four decades to advancing student achievement, curriculum innovation, and school leadership across California. Recognized for his exceptional contributions to charter education and community development, Mr. Reid capped his formal career as the Chief Operating Officer, Curriculum Director, and Learning Analyst at Pacific Charter Institute in Sacramento before retiring in 2023.
Although officially retired, Mr. Reid remains deeply engaged in education and civic service. He currently serves as Board President of the Doc Smith Legacy Foundation, an educational nonprofit committed to empowering students and community members through scholarships, mentoring, and job readiness programs. His work helps ensure equitable opportunities for youth and underserved populations across the Sacramento region.
Additionally, Mr. Reid leads the board at Highlands Community Charter and Technical Schools, a position he took on after previously serving as a consultant. His decades of expertise in school governance, curriculum oversight, and financial accountability have positioned him as a trusted voice in California's alternative education landscape.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from The Master's University and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from National University. He is an active member of the California Coaches Association and a champion of student-athletes, having coached little league baseball and supported local youth development programs throughout his career.
Mr. Reid has served as Exalted Ruler and President of his local Elks Lodge, where he helps organize initiatives like the annual Veterans and First Responders Breakfast, and participates in charitable efforts to support military families, seniors, and at-risk youth. Most recently, he was elected to the county school board, where he continues to advocate for innovation, equity, and community engagement in public education.
Mr. Reid credits his success to his commitment to service, collaboration, and lifelong learning. He offers heartfelt thanks to his wife, Debrah Reid, his partner of 28 years, for her love and steadfast support throughout his personal and professional journey.
