Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index (XAU)
Der Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index ist neben dem Arca Gold Index einer der weltweit wichtigsten Gold Indizes. Im Unterschied zum Arca Gold Index enthält der Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index auch Aktien von Goldproduzenten, die ihre Förderung durch Vorwärtsverkaufe absichern. Insgesamt sind in ihm sechzehn internationale Unternehmen gelistet, die im Bereich der Edelmetallförderung tätig sind. Der Gold Index ist auch unter der Bezeichnung XAU bekannt. Er wird in US-Dollar berechnet und ist ein Kursindex, es fließen keine Dividenden in die Berechnung mit ein.
Der Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index wurde am 19. Januar 1979 an der Philadelphia Stock Exchange aufgelegt, die Indexbasis lag zu dieser Zeit bei 100 Punkten. Seit Ende 1983 kann mit Optionen auf den Gold Index gehandelt werden. Der Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index korreliert mit der Entwicklung des Silber- und Goldpreises und vollzieht daher deren Kursentwicklung nach.
