Firstup Names Bill Schuh as Chief Executive Officer
Proven Enterprise Software Leader Takes Helm for Next Phase of Innovation and Growth
SAN FRANCISCO, June 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Firstup, the leading platform for intelligent workforce communication and engagement, today announced that Bill Schuh has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Firstup founder and former CEO Nicole Alvino will assume a new role as Chairwoman of the Board and will continue to support the company's vision and strategy.
Under Alvino's leadership, Firstup has become a market leader, served millions of employees across global organizations, and reached the milestone of $100M in ARR. She successfully led the company's transformation from an internal communications platform to a comprehensive workforce orchestration platform, launching innovations including CommunicationsAI and Journey Orchestration that have established Firstup as the platform enterprises rely on for business-critical workforce communication and activation.
"Firstup addresses a critically important business challenge–helping organizations sustain business performance by effectively engaging their entire workforce, from desk workers to frontline employees," said Bill Schuh, CEO, Firstup. "Nicole and the team have created a strong foundation for the business, building a market-leading platform that serves global brands and delivers measurable business outcomes in the form of improved employee retention and productivity. I'm thrilled to join this talented team and excited to build upon Nicole's work to date as we help more organizations turn strategy into action across their workforce."
"As a founder and CEO, the right time to pass the torch is when the business is positioned for success," said Nicole Alvino, founder, Firstup. "We've made significant progress on our vision: we've built upon our foundation of internal communications to solve the bigger challenge of workforce activation, built sophisticated AI-powered workforce orchestration capabilities, and created a platform with data that CEOs rely on to drive business performance. Bill brings exactly what we need for our next phase—his proven track record scaling enterprise software companies like Anaplan and Medallia shows he understands the complexities of serving global organizations, and his expertise in go-to-market strategies will help us deliver even greater value to our customers, partners, and shareholders."
Previously, Schuh served as Chief Revenue Officer of Anaplan and managed the company's global go-to-market organization and global partnership ecosystem. During his tenure, he helped drive the company's growth from $450 million in revenue to more than $1 billion in ARR and build a "Rule of 55" market leader. Prior to Anaplan, Schuh spent four years at Medallia as EVP, Global Industry Sales, and previously served as Chief Sales Officer at Sunrun, helping lead both companies to successful IPOs.
Backed by Sumeru Equity Partners and under Schuh's leadership, Firstup is well-positioned to build on its AI-powered workforce orchestration platform, helping organizations better connect with and engage their workforce to drive business results.
