NEWTOWN, Pa., July 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- David Navazio, President and CEO of Gentell and Affiliated Companies, the largest vertically integrated wound care company in the world, announced his company's acquisition of ManukaMed, a leading manufacturer of honey-based wound dressings. ManukaMed is headquartered in New Zealand. The acquisition gives Gentell control of the only honey-based wound care product that is reimbursable by Medicare and other insurance organizations in the United States. ManukaMed's patented blend of medical grade honey promotes chemical synergies for lowering pH and is scientifically proven to have superior, consistent healing properties, especially for venous ulcers, pressure ulcers and other chronic wounds.

With the acquisition of ManukaMed, Gentell will operate factories in seven countries including the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, Brazil, Paraguay, China and New Zealand. Gentell will also acquire ManukaMed's U.S. headquarters, located in Franklin, Tennessee, and their warehouse/distribution center in Kansas City, MO. The acquired company will be rebranded as Gentell ManukaMed.

Said Navazio, "Gentell's acquisition of ManukaMed broadens our product depth while facilitating our growth and expansion on the Australian continent and in Southeast Asia. From our beginnings in my garage thirty years ago, Gentell is now truly a global company."

Gentell has a long history with Manuka honey products. Gentell director and Vice President of Corporate Development Edward Quilty, formerly the CEO of Derma Sciences, was and early advocate for Manuka honey as a wound healing agent. This type of medical grade, or Leptospermum Scoparium (LS) honey, originates from the nectar of the indigenous Manuka tree flower, to be used as a uniquely potent, scientifically proven wound healing treatment.

Navazio said, "The acquisition of ManukaMed, of New Zealand, highlights a very active year of growth for Gentell, where our company also acquired wound care manufacturer Casex in South America, opened Gentell offices in India, launched ReStorell Liquid Protein Supplement line to support wound healing, expanded the number of Gentell wound care centers in the U.K., and many other initiatives. We continue to seek additional opportunities to strengthen Gentell's position as the wound care leader around the world."

Gentell is the largest vertically-integrated wound care manufacturer, with manufacturing plants in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Paraguay and New Zealand, as well as facilities around the world. The company manufactures and supplies efficient, affordable patient-specific wound care products to nursing homes, home care, hospices and other care settings. Gentell is also a pioneer in developing innovative and technologically advanced wound care database and logistics systems for its customers to make wound care more effective and efficient in improving people's lives.
