Maryland-based TidalHealth extends Prime Vendor status to physician offices and lab
New agreement supports health system's strategic planning objectives around quality and efficiency
NORTHFIELD, Ill., June 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Medline today announced that Maryland-based TidalHealth has renewed its medical-surgical Prime Vendor agreement and extended it to include the health system's physician-office and lab networks.
With more than 6,000 team members and providers, TidalHealth is a locally owned, community-focused health system that provides tertiary inpatient, outpatient and emergency care, along with specialty, lab and wellness services across the region, including the Delmarva Peninsula. Among TidalHealth's full range of services are neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, joint replacement, emergency/trauma care, comprehensive cancer care, wound care and clinical trials and research.
"A main factor in our decision to expand this agreement was the stability of the team that has supported us over the years," said Scott Phillips, vice president, supply chain and support services, TidalHealth. "Extending this agreement to lab and physician offices speaks to the bench strength of Medline with respect to the number of people it has dedicated to working in the lab and PO space."
Added Phillips: "They know our business and deeply understand how to meet our needs so that we can focus on patient care. They help us scale quickly and be nimble when needed. It's not just about the boxes and distribution centers for us – it's about how strong Medline's local team is present to us."
Medline's support of TidalHealth started as a single medical-surgical distribution agreement between Medline and then Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., and grew with Peninsula Regional's 2020 mergers with Nanticoke Memorial in Seaford, Del., and McCready Health in Crisfield, Md. The group rebranded to TidalHealth that same year.
TidalHealth recently announced its merger with another organization for which Medline is the medical-surgical Prime Vendor: Atlantic General Hospital serving Worcester County in Maryland and Sussex County in Delaware.
Under the terms of TidalHealth's extended Prime Vendor agreement, it will tap into Medline's portfolio of medical-surgical products, as well as lab supplies and solutions. Medline also will provide data on key metrics – including item use, contract compliance, price accuracy and spend by product categories – across all of TidalHealth's locations.
"From working with TidalHealth over the years, we know how deeply committed they are to delivering to the individuals and families they serve with critical services and specialty care throughout all stages of life," said Michael Mazzola, division manager, acute care, Medline. "It's an honor to provide TidalHealth with the supplies, strategies and solutions that empower this trusted and dynamic organization."
