Emerging creatives nationwide are now eligible for $20,000 grant and mentorship from DJ Suss One

NEW YORK, June 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Rémy Martin is proud to announce the national expansion of its V.S.O.P This is My City Microgrant Initiative, deepening the brand's investment in culture and community across the country. Following the success of its regional launch in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and New York City, Rémy Martin is now extending the opportunity to creatives nationwide.

A celebrated DJ and cultural tastemaker with deep roots in New York's music and radio scene, DJ Suss One joins the program as the national mentor, joining an esteemed lineup of mentors including Angie Martinez, Big Tigger, Twista, and Tommey Walker Jr. DJ Suss One brings a bold, community-driven perspective to this next phase of the program, offering mentorship, and a powerful platform to spotlight emerging talent.

This is My City National Microgrant Initiative Rémy Martin's V.S.O.P This is My City Microgrant initiative celebrates the next generation of cultural changemakers shaping their communities through innovation and purpose. Now open to applicants nationwide, the program will award one visionary creative with a $20,000 grant and personalized mentorship.

Creatives from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, from visual artists to designers, musicians to curators, entrepreneurs to storytellers. Applicants can also be nominated by others within their community.

Regional Microgrant Winners

After an inspiring first phase of the V.S.O.P This is My City microgrant program, Rémy Martin is proud to celebrate the first cohort of recipients, each recognized for their vision and entrepreneurial drive.

• New York City 
  • Tionne Barmeris the CEO & founder of Blacklist NYC, a social collective that creates high-energy events designed to connect New Yorkers of color through intentional, community-driven experiences. From rooftop day parties and wine nights to cookouts, marketplaces, wellness gatherings, and networking panels, Blacklist offers an alternative to traditional nightlife, creating spaces that help people combat loneliness and build real community.

  • Darlene Jackson, also known as DJ Lady D, is a pioneering DJ, producer, and founder of D'lectable Music, a music and events brand dedicated to elevating house music culture.
• Atlanta
  • Sheoyki Jones is the founder of Social Xurrency, a cultural impact agency specializing in social impact, multicultural marketing, and purpose-driven events that shape culture, empower communities, and promote equity. 
• Detroit
  • Oshun Williams is a mixed media artist and founder of Mitten Made Originals, an inclusive creative platform that uplifts identity, resilience, and self-worth through visual affirmations and community-building for emerging artists.

This is My City Local Events
To celebrate the V.S.O.P This is My City honorees, Rémy Martin will host events in New York, Atlanta, Detroit, and Chicago, this fall, featuring mentor appearances, community celebrations, and a showcase of local artistry. Known for its versatility and the art of blending, Rémy Martin V.S.O.P will take center stage through a curated tasting experience, offering guests the chance to explore a range of specialty cocktails that reflect the spirit's depth and elegance. In partnership with renowned designer Jon Stan, Rémy Martin will also debut custom merchandise for attendees and microgrant recipients at each city celebration.

This is My City Microgrant Submission Guide
Rémy Martin encourages individuals across all types of creativity making a notable cultural impact on their local communities across various types of entrepreneurship to apply for the This is My City Microgrant. Honorees will be selected based on their contributions to culture, innovation, and originality, with a focus on work that shapes conversations in their industry and community, pushes boundaries, and displays unique style and authenticity. Recipients will be required to provide examples of relevant programs they've developed and will attend a celebratory event as an honoree in their respective city.

This is My City grant honorees will be announced in August 2025. Applicants can submit their entries on RemyMartin.com/en-us/This-Is-My-City.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and based in the U.S. to be eligible. Applications open at 8:00 AM ET on June 24, 2025, and close at 6:00 PM ET on July 18, 2025.
