PORTLAND, Ore., June 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dyrt, the only camping app that has it all — state and national park campgrounds, RV parks, glamping, and free campsites, along with millions of user-generated campground reviews — has announced the 2025 Best Places To Camp Regional Awards based on reviews and ratings from its vast community of campers. Among all the campgrounds, parks, RV resorts and dispersed areas in the United States, these destinations are some of the most popular picks from The Dyrt campers over the past year. Reputation also plays a role, as there are repeat winners and familiar notable campgrounds across all regions.

"It's not just camping season, it's Best Places to Camp season!" says Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt. "When the process is complete, I love looking at the 60 winners and seeing how, even though it's all about camping, each one is so different. Some of these locations are up in the mountains, others are on islands in the South. We have campgrounds with zero amenities that certain vehicles can't reach and we have campgrounds that are in vineyards or on berry farms. That's why so many people love camping, because you can make it exactly what you want it to be."

For the purpose of these rankings, the country was split up into six regions:

2025 Best Places To Camp: Central
2025 Best Places To Camp: Midwest
2025 Best Places To Camp: Mountain
2025 Best Places To Camp: Northeast
2025 Best Places To Camp: Pacific
2025 Best Places To Camp: Southeast

The highly rated and strongly reviewed campgrounds that earned Best Places to Camp regional honors this year represent almost every type of camping in every corner of the country. For example, the No. 1 campground in the Mountain Region, Lost Lake Campground in Colorado's Gunnison National Forest, offers equestrian camping on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're not in the mood to saddle up, Anchor Down RV Resort in Tennessee has 170 spacious, paved sites equipped with full hookups on Douglas Lake with a view of the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Dyrt's 2025 Camping Report Presented by Toyota Trucks found that nearly 81.1 million Americans camped in 2024 with 5.8 million first-timers making their camping debut. Since 2021, more than 25 million Americans have gone camping for the first time. In other words, every day people are still discovering these unbelievably iconic locations and revered campgrounds for the first time.

"I grew up camping in Minnesota, spent a bunch of time in the Pacific Northwest, and even lived the vanlife and traveled the country a few years back," says The Dyrt CEO Kevin Long. "Just this past fall we drove The Dyrtmobile to Acadia National Park in Maine and stayed at Schoodic Woods Campground, which is No. 2 in the Northeast Region. One thing I've learned from camping all over the U.S. is that a great place to camp can be great for so many reasons. Experience as many as you can."
