Dr. Conter earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rush University in 1981, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in General Surgery, Surgical Oncology and medical leadership. A past president of the Association for Academic Surgery in 1997, he has been actively involved in shaping academic and clinical standards. In addition to his professional commitments, he volunteers at the local food bank, and senior center, reflecting his dedication to serving the community beyond the hospital walls.

Over the years, Dr. Conter has authored multiple book chapters, abstracts, and papers. Outside of his medical focus, his greatest joy comes from his family and grandchildren, to whom he imparts knowledge through science experiments and the value of reading. His grandson's passion for aeronautics, inspired by their shared studies, is a testament to Dr. Conter's belief in lifelong learning.
