Theo Announces Strategic Collaboration with Standard Chartered's Libeara and FundBridge Capital to Expand Access to Treasury Strategy Sub-Managed by Wellington Management
Theo'sfull-stack tokenization platform powers token issuance, integrated market making, and deep trading liquidity, and enables infrastructure support to institutional-grade tokenized real-world assets (RWAs)
Advances Theo's mission to create a tokenized future by designing on-chain, highly accessible financial ecosystems that go beyond token issuance
NEW YORK, July 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Theo, a gateway connecting on-chain capital to global markets, today announced the launch of its beta platform to support infrastructure that enhances eligible investors' participation to both traditional and institutional-grade trading strategies. The platform will initially enable infrastructure support for ULTRA, a token-native fund available for qualified and institutional investors and enabled by Libeara's technology stack. Libeara is incubated by SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, which builds and invests in breakthrough ventures in and beyond banking. ULTRA is a Singapore-based fund overseen by FundBridge Capital and sub-managed by Wellington Management.
Founded in 2024 by a trio of high-frequency trading ("HFT") professionals, Theo's mission is twofold: to develop infrastructure that enables both retail and institutional investors to seamlessly onboard onto various on-chain venues, and to drive deep and consistent liquidity so that all investors can efficiently enter and exit funds. To achieve this, Theo has developed a full-stack tokenization solution that provides issuers with institutional-grade back-end infrastructure and 24/7 integrated market-making and token distribution support, while offering investors liquidity, access to advanced trading strategies, and efficient leverage typically reserved for institutional players.
"The digital asset ecosystem has achieved substantial progress in making institutional-grade financial products accessible to the expanding pool of on-chain money. Yet, funds that are coming on-chain are still not seeing the liquidity or traction they anticipated. We built Theo to not only help funds issue tokens on-chain, but also to drive the deep liquidity they are seeking," said TK Kwon, Co-founder of Theo. "We are proud to collaborate with FundBridge Capital and their partners, Libeara and Wellington Management, as they enable infrastructure support for ULTRA's availability to eligible investors. We believe this collaboration will help support broader infrastructure development for compliant access to tokenized strategies."
In an initial use case of bringing institutional-grade capital deployment and TradFi-like liquidity on-chain, Theo will collaborate with FundBridge Capital and their partners, Libeara and Wellington Management, to provide tokenization infrastructure, market-making, and distribution support to on-chain, tokenized institutional fixed income. The collaboration incorporates institutional-grade safeguards across legal, structural, and counterparty dimensions to support compliant access. Theo's platform enables allocators to access these strategies through a unified interface, without requiring algorithmic trading expertise or managing multiple trading venues.
"Our short-duration fixed income approach is anchored to disciplined risk management and substantial execution expertise," said Mark Garabedian, Director, Digital Assets and Tokenization, Wellington Management. "We are supporting FundBridge Capital—our client—as they work to extend their fixed income strategy on-chain and ensure modern allocators have seamless access to traditional strategies integrated across modern digital asset rails."
"Tokenization is redefining how financial assets are issued and accessed," said Aaron Gwak, Founder & CEO of Libeara. "We're excited to partner with the team at Theo to deliver compliance, security, and scalability needed to truly restructure the gateway to traditional financial markets for on-chain allocators."
Theo creates opportunities to deploy on-chain capital by serving as an accessible and reliable vehicle for allocators. This single point of access is also designed to offer operational efficiency and accessibility for qualified allocators.
Founded by ex-Optiver and IMC Trading traders with deep experience in market structure, Theo raised $20 million in an April fundraising round led by Hack VC and Anthos Capital with participation from numerous other venture capital firms and angels from leading TradFi firms such as Citadel, Jane Street, and J.P. Morgan. For interested TradFi partners, please reach out to us at inquiries@theo.xyz.
