PITTSBURGH, July 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the Pennsylvania Energy & Innovation Summit hosted by Senator Dave McCormick, and featuring President Donald Trump, at Carnegie Mellon University, Bedford Management Partners (BMP), Exus Renewables North America (EXUS) and the Energy Innovation Center Institute (EICI) announced an MOU to jointly target development of onsite dispatchable power generation for data centers and other critical infrastructure. This is one of the few groups focused on building on-site power systems using natural gas, renewables, batteries, and nuclear power stacks needed to meet the "always on" demand of AI data centers. The team has built a world class value chain of partners, including capital and workforce partners and have developed a pipeline of onsite power generation opportunities that are expected to total many billions of dollars of investments over the next several years.

With the unprecedented, rapid increase in the data center industry power demand, the US electrical grid can no longer be the only power delivery method by which data centers are receiving their dispatchable electricity.

To provide high reliability, lower carbon, onsite power at grid competitive pricing, a combination of industry leading products and services is being brought together to ensure America's energy and AI dominance. The BMP / EXUS / EICI team brings together some of the most significant businesses in the power industry, including Eaton, Emerson, Siemens Energy, and Northeast-Western Energy Systems USA (an INNIO Group business) as well as several other internationally recognized partners, to energize onsite power, with a repeatable, scalable, flexible, and high reliability platform for energy delivery.

Through the EICI's proven track record, this power value chain also includes a focus on skilled workforce development and community engagement. These services are essential for the successful build-out and long-term operations of data centers and onsite power.

BMP, EXUS, and EICI are all headquartered at the Energy Innovation Center in Pittsburgh, PA, one of the world's leading centers for energy ecosystem innovation. This group will have a national reach, with a focus that includes Western PA, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia, due to this region's 100+ years of natural gas supply, along with all the other important resources, for data center operations and utility scale dispatchable onsite power generation.

The natural gas fueled engines and turbines are supported by the EXUS solar, wind, and battery technologies and services, and will ultimately include nuclear technologies, to allow for a unique combination of dispatchable onsite thermal and renewable energy. This power stack will have higher reliability and lower carbon emissions than grid power, while remaining cost competitive.

The economic impact analysis suggests that this enterprise could create at least ten 1GW+ data centers including 6,000 new jobs over the next 10 years. The team is also applying nuclear-industry-grade fault analysis to optimize resiliency in this onsite power platform, without relying on much higher cost, full system redundancy.

"This isn't just another group jumping into the AI data center power market" Rich DiClaudio, CEO & Managing Director of Bedford said. "and this group of companies has been building power, energy systems, and infrastructure solutions for decades."  Our unique new integrated platform includes an industry-leading power stack solution, with high reliability (99.99%) at grid competitive pricing, with a focus on developing community support and the workforce of the future.
