SAN FRANCISCO, May 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Scalable Care, an AI-powered digital health company that transforms cutting-edge clinical research into scalable, evidence-based digital therapies, today announced that Dr. Reginald Washington, MD, FAAP, FACC, FAHA, a leading voice in pediatric cardiology and child health policy, has joined as a Clinical Advisor.

Dr. Washington was one of three finalists for Surgeon General of the United States in 2006 and has held numerous leadership roles across academic, nonprofit, and healthcare institutions. As advisor to Scalable Care, he will be instrumental in helping address the growing demand for interventions that can more quickly and effectively help those struggling with behaviors affecting their health and wellness.

Scalable Care's digital care platform is built by experienced healthcare AI experts, backed by leading research institutions, and is currently in use by clinical specialists, public health organizations, and academic hospitals, including UCSF and The University of Texas, San Antonio. Scalable Care is bringing to life digital tools for managing anxiety, conflict, chronic pain, and a long list of specific health needs, including addiction, ADHD, sleep disorders, cancer treatment and recovery, and sexual health.

According to the National Survey of Children's Health, in 2023, over 5.3 million adolescents aged 12-17 (20.3% of this age group) had a diagnosed behavioral health condition. Dr. Washington brings unparalleled clinical expertise and decades of leadership in pediatric health, a priority area of focus for Scalable Care. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and formerly served as Chief Medical Officer of Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children and Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center.

"Our mission is to make impactful care as scalable as the ideas behind it," said Allen Billings, CEO of Scalable Care. "Where health needs intersect with children and teens, specifically, Dr. Washington has extensive expertise and a distinguished track record for making an impact. Having him on board will ensure our platform meets the highest clinical standards while helping to break down access barriers to get interventions to the millions of people experiencing behavioral health challenges."

Dr. Washington has received numerous national honors, including Physician of the Year by the American Heart Association, the Gold Heart Award, and recognition by the Colorado Senate in 2024 for his contributions to public health. He has published over 78 articles in peer-reviewed journals on childhood obesity, pediatric cardiology, and related topics and served on the Editorial Boards of several journals, including TheJournal of Pediatrics, Congenital Heart Disease, and Pediatric Exercise Science.

"Scalable Care is tackling one of the most important problems in modern healthcare—how to get proven digital health interventions into the hands of patients at scale," said Dr. Washington. "Despite public discourse around mental health increasing and being more broadly accepted, it remains an area of healthcare that is underserved. People who seek care struggle with long wait times and access to specialists with effective treatment approaches. I'm excited to contribute to a company that harnesses the power of AI to help healthcare experts rapidly deliver digital therapies grounded in proven methodologies—so we can reach more people in need, faster."

In addition to advising Scalable Care, Dr. Washington currently serves on the Boards of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA), Temple Buell Foundation (Chairperson), and the Helen Bonfils Foundation.
