NEW YORK, June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In continued partnership with New York City Mayor Eric Adams' Office, The Brady Hunter Foundation (BHF) proudly announces the awarding of its second partial veterinary scholarship to Rorrie Dance, an African American student from the Five Boroughs, who has chosen to begin her studies this fall at Long Island University's (LIU) Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine. This initiative continues BHF's mission to foster inclusivity and opportunity in the veterinary field.

"These talented African American students, in addition to earning degrees, are also breaking barriers and transforming their field," said NYC Mayor Eric Adams. "Their success is a success for New York City, and I am proud that we are creating opportunities that help them rise and lead. This is true leadership, and I commend The Brady Hunter Foundation for supporting our communities and investing where it truly matters."

Rorrie Dance, a Brooklyn native, is a recent graduate of St. John's University Queens, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biology. Rorrie has been a committed volunteer at the Animal Care Center of NYC for the past three years, where she gained invaluable experience in clinical settings, as well as through interacting with people and animals in non-clinical settings. In addition to being a dedicated pet sitter, she has also pursued extracurricular certificates in animal training, demonstrating her deep passion for animal care and education. Rorrie embodies the kind of future leader this scholarship is designed to uplift.

She now joins a growing legacy of excellence and equity, following last year's inaugural recipient, Shania Allison, whose scholarship will be renewed as she enters her third year of veterinary studies.

Launched in 2023, The Brady Hunter Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to a veterinary student in need from NYC's five Boroughs. Through this initiative, BHF is working to help close this financial gap by empowering students like Rorrie and Shania to pursue careers in veterinary medicine, and to lead with compassion and purpose.

"Education and animal welfare are two of our deepest values, and the intersection of the two is where real transformation begins," said Josh Fox, Founder of The Brady Hunter Foundation. "We created this scholarship to help create diversity in the veterinary field and inspire other students in financial need to consider a career in veterinary medicine. Awarding this scholarship to Rorrie emphasizes our commitment to this initiative and highlights that diversity is necessary to foster excellence. Rorrie's dedication to animals, science, and her community is exactly what this program was meant to support."

The Brady Hunter Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to protect animals, empower underserved youth, and support equitable education pathways. By investing in students like Rorrie Dance and Shania Allison, BHF is helping to build a future where justice, compassion, and opportunity are available to all — including the voiceless animals these students will one day serve.
