One Brooklyn Health's Board of Trustees Announces Chief Executive Officer and President
BROOKLYN, N.Y., May 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Trustees of One Brooklyn Health today voted to appoint Dr. Sandra Scott as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Mr. Arthur Gianelli as President and Chief Transformation Officer at One Brooklyn Health (OBH).
Dr. Scott has served as the Interim CEO since January 2024, while the Board conducted a competitive national search for a permanent CEO. In her new role as permanent CEO, Dr. Scott will continue to oversee the strategic leadership, network management, and financial performance of the hospital network. She will work closely with the Board of Trustees and staff to set the long-term vision, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure that OBH achieves its financial, operational, and strategic goals. Under Dr. Scott's leadership, over 7,000 employees will provide enhanced access to high-quality medical care, keep their communities healthy through an integrated care system that respects the diversity of their communities, and address the health needs that shape them.

Previously, Dr. Scott served as the Executive Director of the Brookdale Hospital Center for nearly three years and served as Chair of OBH's Department of Emergency Medicine. When she assumed the role as Executive Director at Brookdale, Dr. Scott made history by becoming the first woman, physician, and person of color to lead the hospital in its 100-year history.
Dr. Scott has also led Brookdale's efforts to address health equity and Black women's maternal health issues. Dr. Scott joined U. S. Senator Chuck Schumer to champion the Maternal Health Momnibus Act to address disparities in women's healthcare.

Dr. Scott is a graduate of Louisiana State University, and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Boston Medical Center. She also served as the Chief of Service for Emergency Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in the South Bronx. Throughout her career, Dr. Scott has worked exclusively in safety-net hospitals such as Kings County and Brookdale. Her priority goal is to serve and uplift communities with health and equity disparities both in the U.S. and abroad.
Art Gianelli joins OBH from Mount Sinai Health Systems where he served as Chief Transformation Officer and President for the Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. Mr. Gianelli has more 25 years of experience in senior leadership roles in complex health systems, including nearly eight years as a health system's Chief Executive Officer.
As President and Chief Transformation Officer for OBH, Mr. Gianelli will be responsible for leading the operational management and cultural environment of the hospital by ensuring the health system is safer, more efficient and accessible to patients. He will also work to direct, restructure and streamline the health system's acute, post-acute and ambulatory operations as well as its partnerships with community physicians. Additionally, Mr. Gianelli will develop an operating model for the health system that allows for sustained clinical and operational success.

Mr. Gianelli is a graduate of St. John's University and Columbia University with a Master of Public Health in Healthcare Management. He also is a graduate of Brown University with a Master of Arts in Political Science along with a Master of Business Administration from Dowling College. Gianelli has been recognized for a robust number of awards and affiliations, including "32 Inspiring Chief Transformation Officers in Healthcare: Becker's Hospital Review in 2022," "Award of Distinction: Healthcare Leaders of New York in 2022," and considered one of the "20 Most Influential Long Islanders: The Long Island Business in 2013."
