Portico Benefit Services Appoints Paul Sterling as Chief Operating Officer
Health care veteran brings proven track record of operational excellence and innovation to benefits ministry
MINNEAPOLIS, July 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Portico Benefit Services, the benefits ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, today announced the appointment of Paul Sterling as Chief Operating Officer, effective July 14. The strategic hire strengthens Portico's operational foundation while building capabilities to support continued growth and enhanced service to faith-based organizations.
Sterling brings two decades of health care leadership experience spanning strategy, finance, and product innovation. His proven ability to drive new capabilities and operational efficiency makes him well positioned to meet member needs now and in the future.

His background also includes senior leadership positions with UnitedHealthcare, Optum, and AccentCare, complemented by strategic consulting experience at Accenture. He holds an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
