HONG KONG, July 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As Hong Kong accelerates the development of its "Eight Centers" strategy and expands its global talent initiatives, the Hong Kong International Talent Career Expo 2025 continues to gain momentum after Season 1. Season 2 "Innovation and Technology (I&T), Industrial Manufacturing, Smart City" Session and  "Technology Revolution Leading the Future, Accelerating the Development of New Quality Productive Forces" Seminar, were successfully held on 28 June at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers in Tsim Sha Tsui.

With the same theme "Gather in Hong Kong, Innovate for the Future," Season 2 highlighted Hong Kong's strategic position as the international I&T hub and focused on the technological advancement and industrial transformation, covering cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, financial technology, and smart manufacturing. Over 50 renowned enterprises exhibited and offered thousands of high-quality and well-paid I&T positions, including AI technology engineer, IT procurement officer, system analyst and programmer, etc. Season 2 totally attracted a record-breaking crowd of nearly 5,000 job seekers who flooded the venue and scouted for jobs.

The whole venue was at full capacity all day and the exhibition booths were abuzz as job seekers and employers engaged in dynamic exchanges, reflecting their strong mutual selection intent. The Expo will effectively facilitate high-precision talent matching, strengthen the talent pool and address the workforce shortages in Hong Kong's I&T sector. Furthermore, the Expo also brought together key representatives from government, industry, and academia and featured a comprehensive format combining a career fair, thematic forums, and corporate showcases.

Mr. Chris Sun Yuk-han, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized Hong Kong's commitment to I&T development, noting that sustained competitiveness in the tech race requires five key areas: market systems, legal frameworks, financial infrastructure, education excellence, and talent policies – all of which are firmly established in Hong Kong. He stated many inherent advantages of Hong Kong: its globally recognized free-market system ranked among the world's most competitive economies; its unique status as the only common law jurisdiction in China ensuring international alignment; its irreplaceable position as Asia's premier financial hub; and its compelling appeal in education for overseas talent with five world-top-100 universities. Mr. Sun stressed that further developing Hong Kong's I&T sector cannot rely solely on local talent pools. The HKSAR Government will persist in implementing comprehensive talent admission schemes spanning high, mid and entry-level professionals.

Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, delivered a speech via video. He emphasized that I&T has become the driving force behind Hong Kong's high-quality development. The HKSAR Government is actively advancing its I&T development blueprint, strengthening the ecosystem, and working to establish Hong Kong as an international I&T center. With large-scale I&T infrastructure projects nearing completion, the industrial ecosystem will become more diversified, and the demand for professional talent will continue to grow. According to the 2023 workforce projection, Hong Kong may face a significant talent shortage in the I&T sector by 2028, especially in data analytics and AI. The government is addressing this through a range of policies aimed at cultivating local talent and developing an internationally competitive system that supports a virtuous cycle of "talent driving technology, technology leading industry, and industry attracting talent."

Mr. Anthony Lau, Director of Hong Kong Talent Engage, stated in his speech that the second season of the Expo focused on emerging industries in Hong Kong and provided high-quality job opportunities for incoming talents. He called for cross-sector collaboration to create a favorable development platform for talents and contribute to Hong Kong's high quality development.

Mr. Loman Luo, Chairman of the Expo Organizing Committee and Founding Chairman of Hong Kong Quality and Talent Migrants Association, stated that the Expo aims to build an efficient and direct platform for matching, communication and cooperation between enterprises and talents. This platform unites support across all sectors of society to help talent realize their value and solidify Hong Kong's position as a global hub for talent. He hoped that every professional would find their ideal job and every enterprise would secure their capable staff.

Besides, "Technology Revolution Leading the Future, Accelerating the Development of New Quality Productive Forces" Seminar was also an important part of the Expo. The seminar brought together government officials and business leaders, as well as research experts, for in-depth discussions on key topics such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and the startup ecosystem. In addition, to address common concerns about immigration and talent policy, the officials of Hong Kong Immigration Department also hosted a session addressing talent policy inquiries, detailing the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) and Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS), plus visa renewal procedures.

Season 2 of the Expo was co-organized by the Hong Kong Quality and Talent Migrants Association, the Hong Kong Management Association, and the Hong Kong Economic Times, with the Labour and Welfare Bureau and Hong Kong Talent Engage serving as official strategic partners. It was undertaken by Hong Kong Talent Group, with TGather as a comprehensive partner, CTgoodjobs as a comprehensive platform, MTR as a key partner, and FUJIFILM and HK Electric as partners. As the official strategic partner of the Expo, Hong Kong Talent Engage set up a booth at the venue to introduce its services and answer inquiries from the participants. HKTE continues to organize and support online and offline recruitment events, in order to assist talents with career development and long term settlement in Hong Kong.

The Expo organizer plans to host Season 3-Logistics, Shipping, Trade & E-commerce Session and Season 4-Cultural & Creative Industries and Education Session later this year. These will continue recruiting talent across all sectors and advance high-quality economic development of Hong Kong.
