South Korea's Premier Hydrangea Festival Returns in Ulsan Namgu: 2025 Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival
ULSAN, South Korea, May 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Ulsan's Namgu, known both as an eco-cultural district and a symbol of whale heritage in Korea, will host the Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival from June 7 to 29at Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village under the theme "Jangsaengpo, Drenched in Hydrangeas."
Held across 102,705 square meters of landscaped cultural space, the festival centers around the Osaek Hydrangea Garden, a hillside garden that comes alive with over 30,000 hydrangeas in 40 different varieties. The vibrant waves of color and texture cascade down the hill like a living painting, drawing thousands of visitors for photos, relaxation, and sensory delight.
In addition, the venue will feature wish-granting lanterns and string lights, creating a romantic ambiance both day and night. Visitors will enjoy photo zones, a tasting event for the festival's signature hydrangea-themed wine, and a flea market, providing abundant entertainment throughout the festival.
This year's festival also offers added perks: the first 300,000 ticket holders will receive a local voucher, which can be used like cash at partner businesses in the Jangsaengpo area and at vendor booths inside the festival grounds through July 13.
The Opening Ceremony takes place on June 7, coinciding with the first night of after-dark admission. On June 8, two musical sessions feature jazz, classical, and live band performances. Every Saturday, street concerts and magic shows will take place at the Whale Culture Square, culminating in the spectacular fireworks show under the night sky.
Visitors can also enjoy a nighttime media façade show at the oil storage tanks near the Jangsaengpo Culture Warehouse, an installation created in collaboration with global energy leader SK Innovation, bringing art, history, and energy heritage to life in a unique multimedia format.
To enhance accessibility, free weekend shuttle buses will operate between Taehwagang Station and Jangsaengpo, making it easier for visitors arriving by public transportation.
"I hope families, couples, and friends will create unforgettable memories among the beautifully cultivated hydrangeas and emotional photo zones," said Seo Dong-wook, Mayor of Ulsan Nam-gu. "We are working to ensure that it continues to grow into one of Korea's leading summer flower festivals."
Jangsaengpo, the site of the festival, is Korea's only designated Whale Culture District. Once a bustling whaling port, it now preserves its maritime heritage through attractions such as the Whale Museum, Jangsaengpo Culture Warehouse, Whale Watching Cruise, and Jangsaengpo Monorail, making it a must-visit destination.
