LINCOLN, Neb., July 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The newest Sandhills Global market reports point to a mix of asking and auction value trends in used construction equipment markets. The reports cover June data for used construction equipment, farm machinery, trucks, and trailers on Sandhills platforms. Within the heavy-duty construction equipment market, asking prices are trending down, and auction values are trending sideways. By contrast, asking and auction values in the medium-duty market are trending up.

In the used farm machinery market, tractor inventory levels, asking prices, and auction values are all trending downward. Inventory levels of used compact tractors continue to plummet, but asking values are trending upward despite a monthly decrease in June.

In June, used heavy-duty truck inventory levels were more than 20% lower than year-ago levels. Used sleeper truck inventory levels have recently shown monthly increases and, as of June, inched higher than day cab inventory levels. The overall trends for asking and auction values are steady, but this appears to be the result of diverging trends in the day cab and sleeper truck categories.

The key metric in all of Sandhills' market reports is the Sandhills Equipment Value Index (EVI). Buyers and sellers can use the information in the Sandhills EVI to monitor equipment markets and maximize returns on acquisition, liquidation, and related business decisions. The Sandhills EVI data include equipment available in auction and retail markets and model-year equipment actively in use. EVI spread measures the percentage difference between asking and auction values.
