Vietnamese Users Can Link UnionPay Cards to Alipay and WeChat Pay for Convenient Payments in China

HANOI, Vietnam, July 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting in 2025, UnionPay cards issued by Vietnamese banks can be linked with Alipay and WeChat Pay, China's leading mobile payment platforms, through a partnership with UnionPay International.

As of now, the following banks in Vietnam have issued UnionPay cards that are eligible for linking:

  • Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank)
  • LienVietPostBank (LPBank)
  • Bank of ChinaHo Chi Minh City Branch
  • Industrial and Commercial Bank of ChinaHanoi Branch (ICBC)

To link a UnionPay card to Alipay or WeChat Pay, users can follow these easy steps:

  • Obtain a UnionPay card from a supported bank.
  • Install the international version of the Alipay or WeChat application.
  • Add the UnionPay card in the application's "Bank Card" section.
  • Complete the brief verification process to enable payments.
  • Outbound travel from Vietnam to China has increased steadily in recent years, according to data from the State Bank of Vietnam.
