AquaTech Eco Consultants and Ecosphere Restoration Institute Celebrate 100 Acres of SAV Restoration Across Florida

Next Phase: 70 Additional Acres Already Permitted and Under Contract

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- AquaTech Eco Consultants, in partnership with Ecosphere Restoration Institute, has reached a major statewide milestone: the successful completion of 100 acres of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) restoration across Florida. This effort, funded through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Grant LPA0282, is one of the largest and most ambitious SAV initiatives in the state's history.

Submerged Aquatic Vegetation is often called the 'lungs of the water.' These meadows provide critical habitat for fish and shellfish, stabilize sediments, improve water clarity, and serve as a primary food source for Florida's beloved manatees. Yet decades of environmental pressures — from pollution to development to climate change — have left Florida's SAV in crisis.

"Reaching 100 acres of restored SAV statewide is a tremendous milestone," said Beau Williams, owner of AquaTech Eco Consultants. "Just as exciting, we're already permitted and under contract to restore another 70 acres. That means this progress isn't slowing down — it's accelerating."

The statewide SAV initiative spans all five of Florida's Water Management Districts, building on earlier restoration successes in Bay County, Gulf County, and now Martin County. AquaTech Eco Consultants also currently holds permits for more than 86 acres of restoration across Martin, Bay, and Gulf Counties, ensuring rapid launch of future projects.
