CaringBridge Announces CEO Transition and Appointment of Interim CEO
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Sept. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CaringBridge today announced that Tia Newcomer, who has served as CEO since 2021, will be transitioning out of her role as CEO, stepping down at the end of the year. To ensure continuity and stability, the CaringBridge Board of Directors has appointed Stephanie Schmid, Chief Growth Officer, as President effective Oct 1, 2025, and as Interim CEO, effective Jan 1, 2026.
During her tenure, Newcomer led a transformative period for CaringBridge—modernizing its 27-year-old technology to create a scalable platform ready for future innovation, expanding support for caregivers, forging strategic partnerships with healthcare systems and wellness companies, and elevating the organization as a nationally recognized, tech-enabled support platform for caregivers.
"I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to lead CaringBridge and for the impact we've created together," said Newcomer. "CaringBridge is strong, our mission has never been more important, and I have every confidence in Stephanie's ability to lead the organization into its next chapter."
As President, Schmid will advance key strategic priorities, and as Interim CEO, Schmid will assume full operational leadership of CaringBridge and ensure continuity of mission.
"It will be an honor to serve as Interim CEO of CaringBridge," said Schmid. "CaringBridge has never been more vital in ensuring no one goes through a health journey alone. I look forward to building on our strong foundation, continuing to advance our mission, and supporting caregivers, patients, and their communities with stability, compassion, and innovation."
Newcomer will remain with CaringBridge through December 31, 2025, to support a smooth transition.
"CaringBridge plays a vital role in supporting patients and caregivers," said Sarah Krevans, Chair of the Board. "We are grateful to Tia for her transformative leadership and are confident in Stephanie's ability to steward the organization during this important transition."
