Kansas City-Based MKS Expands Footprint with Acquisition of Omaha's Industrial Pipe & Supply
75-Year Industry Leader Acquires Nebraska PVF Distributor to Accelerate Growth
KANSAS CITY, Mo. and OMAHA, Neb., June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- MKS, a Kansas City-based, family-owned pipe, valve, and fitting (PVF) distributor with over 75 years of industry experience, today announced the acquisition of Industrial Pipe & Supply (IPS) of Omaha, Nebraska. The transaction positions MKS to expand its specialized product offerings and customer service capabilities throughout the Midwest region while maintaining IPS's 30-year legacy of exceptional customer relationships.
"IPS represents exactly who we were 15 years ago – a tight-knit team with strong customer relationships and deep industry knowledge," said Steve Adams, President & CEO of MKS. "They have the same commitment to customer service excellence and employee-first culture that has driven our growth. This acquisition allows us to bring specialized products and services to markets that have been underserved while providing IPS customers with expanded access to best-in-class suppliers."
Market Expansion, Enhanced Capabilities
The acquisition expands MKS's reach into the Nebraska and Iowa markets, positioning the company with another distribution point a 2.5-hour drive from its headquarters. This proximity enables same-day delivery of custom products, including custom gaskets, addressing significant market demand in the region.
"We've been looking for opportunities to offer our customers more services and expanded product lines," said Paul Van Werden, President of IPS. "MKS brings exactly what we've been wanting to do – actuated valve packages, custom machining capabilities, and relationships with industry-leading suppliers. Our customers will benefit tremendously from these enhanced offerings."
The combined organization will operate under both the MKS and IPS brands, maintaining local market presence and operational teams. IPS will continue normal business operations immediately following the transaction, ensuring uninterrupted service to existing customers.
Commitment to Team and Culture
MKS emphasized its commitment to retaining IPS's 10-person team, with plans to invest in technology upgrades, professional development, and expanded employee benefits.
"Without great people, we never would have grown to where we are today," Adams noted. "Paul and his team have built something special at IPS – the same servant leadership approach and employee-first culture that drives our success. We're excited to invest in this team and provide new opportunities for career growth."
