KEPCO discusses cooperation with US firms amid expansion of global nuclear energy market
The Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said Thursday it has attended a nuclear energy conference in the United States and explored ways to expand its foothold in the American market through cooperation with local companies. KEPCO took part in the 2025 Nuclear Energy Conference & Expo (NECX) held in Atlanta last week, where it expressed its commitment to entering the U.S. nuclear energy market and discussed potential partnerships with major American firms, such as The Nuclear Company, for opportunities in the power plant business, according to the Korean company. The NECX organizers told KEPCO that it is one of the most trusted partners for the U.S. government in achieving its goal of quadrupling the country's nuclear power capacity to 400 gigawatts by 2050, KEPCO officials said. Following the conference, the Korean company said it held a joint workshop with Westinghouse to exchange their technological expertise and discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation for global nuclear energy projects.
