BRISTOL, Tenn., May 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- King University is addressing critical nursing shortages by launching four new online nursing programs designed to provide working professionals and lifelong learners with flexible, high-quality education options. Beginning in August, students will have the opportunity to pursue new, accredited nursing degrees in an online format, allowing them to advance their careers while balancing work, family and other commitments.

King is committed to making education more accessible by offering self-paced, asynchronous learning with multiple start dates throughout the year. This initiative removes traditional barriers to learning and provides students with the tools to succeed in an evolving healthcare landscape.

"More and more, advanced practice nurses are finding themselves practicing in primary care settings and in critical care environments," said Donna Fraysier, dean of the School of Nursing at King. "We wanted to create online concentrations that specifically teach excellence in these settings, which can present fast-paced, high-risk situations where prior experience and specialized training is a tremendous advantage to patients and providers alike."

The new online offerings include:

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program
  • Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate

These programs are strategically developed to address the growing demand for skilled nurse practitioners in the United States. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the U.S. is projected to experience a shortage of Registered Nurses that is expected to intensify as Baby Boomers age and the need for health care grows.

To support this initiative, King University has partnered with Risepoint, a leader in education technology that specializes in helping universities expand their online learning opportunities.

"We're proud to partner with King University as they continue to expand access to quality nursing programs aligned to the workforce," said Fernando Bleichmar, CEO of Risepoint. "These programs are designed to offer working nurses a flexible pathway to advance their education while addressing critical healthcare workforce shortages. We look forward to seeing the impact that these nurses will have in their communities and beyond."

The first cycle of classes begins August 2025. To learn more about the online programs and how to apply, visit online.king.edu.
