NEHA Celebrates World Food Safety Day With Expert Roundtable
Public health leaders to share frontline insights on food safety
DENVER, May 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of World Food Safety Day, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) will host a virtual roundtable on Tuesday, June 3, titled "Science on the Frontline: Global Voices of Food Safety Professionals." The event theme, "Food Safety: Science in Action," will spotlight real-world work of food safety regulators from across the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Dubai.
Across the globe, food safety professionals continue to lead with science, applying new tools and refined techniques to address emerging challenges in retail food safety. This global conversation highlights the work of those on the front lines—showcasing practical innovation, cross-jurisdiction collaboration and forward-thinking workforce development strategies that are shaping the future of public health protection.
"Food safety touches every community and every person," said Dr. David T. Dyjack, executive director of NEHA. "This roundtable is an opportunity to elevate proven solutions, examine emerging risks and reaffirm our shared responsibility to act before problems arise."
The free, two-hour virtual event will include brief presentations from each panelist, followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A.
"Food safety professionals are responding to new challenges with creativity, expertise and an unwavering commitment to public health," said Rance Baker, roundtable moderator and entrepreneurial zone director at NEHA. "This event highlights the essential, often unseen, work these individuals do to keep our food supply safe."
World Food Safety Day, observed annually on June 7 and led by the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, emphasizes the importance of detecting, managing and preventing foodborne risks. The global initiative calls on all stakeholders to help ensure food safety at every step of the supply chain and serves as a reminder that safe food is essential not only to health and well-being, but also to economic development and food security.
