Six North American transmission providers – Avista, Bonneville Power Administration, Dominion Energy, Idaho Power Company, Santee Cooper, and Southern Company – achieved FERC Order 881 schedule by deploying OATI's solution for ambient-adjusted ratings.

MINNEAPOLIS, July 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In a demonstration of OATI's scale and effectiveness within the energy industry, six transmission providers in North America have successfully deployed OATI's solution for ambient-adjusted ratings (AAR) to comply with FERC Order 881.

While many transmission providers have required schedule extensions, OATI customers Avista, Bonneville Power Administration, Dominion Energy, Idaho Power Company, Santee Cooper, and Southern Company reached commercial operations with OATI's webLineR™ AAR solution ahead of the original July 12, 2025 deadline set by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Additionally, several other regional grid operators and utilities are staging their production system to meet their individual schedules for full webLineR™ AAR operations, which is integrated with the OATI webSmartOASIS™ system.

"Santee Cooper is proud to have gone live with OATI webLineR™ to meet the original compliance deadline for FERC Order 881," said Jason Smith, Santee Cooper's manager of operations planning. "The deployment required close collaboration, with refinements continuing through the final days. OATI's technical support was critical in ensuring a successful go-live, and we appreciate their partnership in meeting this important regulatory milestone. We look forward to continued enhancements as broader industry participation enables greater coordination and situational awareness across the transmission network."

"BPA in partnership with OATI was able to go-live with webLineR on July 11th meeting the FERC Order 881 July 12th deadline," said Ashley Donahoo, Bonneville Power Administration's internal operations manager.

FERC Order 881, issued in 2021, is a boon for power market participants and consumers alike—requiring transmission line ratings to reflect the maximum transfer capacity depending on weather conditions, as opposed to conservative assumptions. But as with any new policy, the burden is on the regulated party, many of which must act before the end of 2026.

OATI webLineR™ enables utilities, transmission owners, and grid operators to collect AAR and seasonal ratings from market participants and transmission owners, generate cleared ratings, and feed numerous backend market and reliability.

The OATI webLineR™ system developments were led by a robust design team with the objective to provide highly adaptable product to meet the diverse needs of transmission service providers.

"OATI's customer base is solid in transmission operations and reliability, and we're thrilled to once again deliver for these critical organizations, and we thank them for their continued support," said Sasan Mokhtari, President & CEO of OATI. "Make no mistake: these implementations are complex and face aggressive timelines. But utilities continue to trust and rely on us because of our advanced capabilities and industry-leading customer service."
