Samsung takes over US digital health care firm Xealth

NEW YORK — Samsung Electronics took over U.S. digital health care platform Xealth to begin connected care service in the United States, the company said Tuesday (local time). According to Samsung, it signed an agreement to acquire Xealth, a health care integration platform providing diverse digital health tools and care programs. The company did not provide further details, but said it will finish processes such as regulatory approvals within the year. Xealth was spun out from Providence's health care system in 2016 and combines multiple digital health solutions into a single user interface and platform, giving health care providers a more comprehensive understanding of patients. The company currently has a network of more than 500 U.S. hospitals, including Advocate Health and Banner Health, and more than 70 digital health solution partners. They will gain access to Samsung’s platform to help enhance the connected care platform. The acquisition will accelerate efforts to unify fragmented health care information, measured through wellness tools and clinical records at hospitals.
